Jon Gustafsson studied filmmaking in Manchester, England, and directing and acting at the California Institute of the Arts. He has directed and produced documentaries, music videos, short films and theatre shows and feature length films in Iceland and Canada. Some of his other projects include KANADIANA (dramatic feature) and THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING ICELANDIC (documentary for CBC’s RoughCuts), IN A HEARTBEAT (short) several stage shows, music videos and television commercials.
Jon was hired to play a small part in the Viking epic BEOWULF & GRENDEL – one of Beowulf’s warriors – the one who is always in the background, usually out of focus, and never says anything. That meant that he had endless days on the set, with lots of time to kill. He took along a small video camera and started capturing the story that went on behind the scenes.
